A sumptuously shimmering erotic photograph by the one of the greats of 20th Century photography, Henri Cartier-Bresson (previously featured in this series, see Dreams of Desire 50 (The Decisive Moment) of the Argentinian Surrealist painter, illustrator, fashion designer and writer, Leonor Fini. A fiercely independent woman renowned for her unorthodox personal life, Fini is credited with being the first woman artist to paint a male nude.

An enchanting photograph. The water adds a touch of unreality to the image – an already lovely subject. Leanor must have been an amazing woman – all those talents and skills.

She was very talented, I intend to write about her further at some point. The water does add a lovely effect, Cartier-Bresson knew how to take a photograph.

Oh very well. I suppose I could look her up on my own. However I like my art history with a slice of cake!

Thank you very much. I do plan to write about her shortly, at least in part. I am planning another Illustrating… but not Alice this time.

Your description in the beginning of the post is on point… (I wanted to say ‘in the first sentence but that maybe would’ve been to imprecise…) love your artful selection. Full of surprises as usual.
